While we love celebrating our diverse range of merchants, this Heritage Day we are taking the opportunity to look inwards to celebrate what PayFast has accomplished as a proudly South African company. What started off as a small one-man startup has flourished into a nationally recognised online payments processing company that over 100 employees, from a variety of backgrounds, are proud to be a part of.
The story of PayFast dates back to 2007 when self-proclaimed technophile, Jonathan Smit developed the core platform of PayFast with investment capital from Andy Higgins. Fast forward to over a decade later, and it’s amazing to see PayFast powering online payments for more than 80,000 merchants across South Africa.
