Network International Completes Acquisition of DPO

You may have heard of Network International’s planned acquisition of DPO, the largest high-growth online payments platform in Africa, over the past months. We are delighted to inform you that we have officially completed the process – DPO is now a part of the Network International Group!  

DPO enables over 60,000 SME and global enterprises to accept online payments across 21 African countries. Its acquisition will drive forward Network’s plan to accelerate payments acceptance across the continent. Our combined resources and expertise will translate to huge benefits to consumers and businesses that are increasingly looking to accept as many different forms of digital payments through as many different channels as possible in the face of changing market dynamics.  

Accomplishing this major milestone amidst a global health crisis was no small feat. But each of our interactions made it increasingly clear that our organizations shared a common passion and vision – the timing and the opportunities felt right.  

This acquisition allows us to 

  • harmonize cultures and open new horizons for business growth, innovation and skills transfer across  geographies; 
  • consolidate and further strengthen our position across the entire payments value chain in Africa, the  fastest-growing payments market in the world, at a time when our expertise and support are most  needed;  
  • bring direct merchant relationships to Africa for the first time; 
  • widen our capabilities across online, mobile and alternative payments; and to unlock major payment solutions potential for years to come, as the world adjusts to the new normal.  

We would like to emphasize that there won’t be any impact on your current relationship with any of the two companies. Contractual relationships and business operations will remain unchanged and will be honored by both teams. DPO will retain its company name and operate at the same levels of excellence its existing customers have come to expect from it. Integration with the Network International Group will be implemented as seamlessly as possible to direct our shared expertise to new and improved payments services and experiences for Africa. 

What does this move mean to you as a customer? 

If you are an existing Network International customer, then we will be offering you broader options across online, mobile and alternative payments.  

If you are an existing Acquirer working with Network, we will be able to expand the range of payment  options to include mobile money and Electronic Fund Transfer, complemented by an even richer set of 

Value Added Services. If you aren’t an Acquirer today, we will now be able to help you make a light-touch entry into the exciting and rapidly expanding world of online acceptance. This transaction is set to create a stronger platform for us to drive digital payments adoption across the African continent, while increasing revenue opportunities for you.  

If you are an existing DPO customer, then you’ll benefit from broader and more diversified direct merchant relationships, Network International’s strengths in face-to-face POS payments, its higher transaction authorisation rates, and a comprehensive value chain from the MEA region’s leading enabler of digital commerce.  

If you are an existing customer of both Network and DPO, then you’ll enjoy the best of both worlds – continued access to DPO’s unique and innovative merchant solutions, and the expertise of the only Pan Africa digital payments player.  

Network International will be launching ‘DPO Pay’, a cost effective and convenient end-to-end ecommerce payment solution for SMEs, in the UAE soon to start capitalizing on the synergies of both companies. DPO Pay’s value-added services include the ability to set up an online store in just a few days and host a secure mobile-optimised payment page for enabling payment via any device.
