Small businesses and entrepreneurs are everywhere in South Africa. At PayFast we want to support and cultivate this ecosystem in every way we can. You should too. This Friday is Small Business Friday (SBF), the perfect opportunity to support local businesses in your area.
Small Business Friday is an initiative started by the National Small Business Chamber (NSBC). As a partner of the NSBC, PayFast is actively involved in supporting their initiatives and events. Small Business Friday is hosted every year on the first Friday of Spring. 2016 is the fifth year the movement has run and it’s going to be bigger and better than ever.
CEO and founder of NSBC, Mike Anderson states
“SBF has gained incredible momentum over the past five years and as a non-profit organisation, we are very proud of our progress. It remains important to keep reminding people to get involved, mobilise the nation and support small business.”
Get Involved
Why? Here are some compelling reasons:
- It’s convenient as local businesses are already in your local community (and online too!)
- They offer a personal touch.
- You will be provided with a unique product or service.
- You will be making a positive impact on the economy.
- Your purchase has a positive impact on the business owner and their employees, their families and the community.
So when you wake up bleary eyed on Friday morning, thanking your lucky stars that it is, in fact, Friday. Instead of getting that convenient wake-up coffee at your nearest franchise pit stop. Why not take the road less travelled and find a local coffee bar in your area. Not feeling adventurous? Get your fix online at Cape Coffee Beans. While there why not explore some other local brands online…. Maybe your Friday evening could be spent snuggled up on the couch doing some online shopping to update your spring wardrobe? Try Nick Harry or Jane Sews. The possibilities are endless, just make sure you join the movement.
