Unpacking Web3, Amazon sales, and GenZ for entrepreneurs

Ecommerce sales in South Africa are expected to reach R23-billion by the end of 2023, according to a study by market research firm eMarketer. Unpacking how local entrepreneurs can leverage popular ecommerce trends to increase their growth, from Web3, to social commerce, the Payfast eCommerce Virtual Summit will take place from 14 to 15 March 2023.

Hosted by Insaka eCommerce Academy, attendees can look forward to a range of short, informative presentations, and longer-form courses, chaired by more than 30 industry leaders. Representatives from the likes of Meta, Google, Amazon Web Services, WooCommerce, and Shopify, are all lined up to share their learnings, expertise, and strategies. The online event is open to the public, and free to attend.

“Staying relevant in the ecommerce world requires keeping up with the constantly shifting landscape – be it through the rise of sales through TikTok, and how businesses can adapt, to the potential impact of artificial intelligence, or learning about selling to the Gen Z market. We’re excited to once again be partnering with Insaka on this event; the Summit presents a great opportunity to unpack these and other hot topics,” says Chief Commercial Officer at Payfast, David Adams.

A new addition to this year’s Summit is the introduction of online courses – 60 to 90 minutes masterclasses, that will provide audiences with a more in depth look into specific topics. These include sessions on Web3, Crypto, and NFTs in ecommerce, novice and advanced sessions on Google ad set up, and leveraging Meta ads, for Facebook and Instagram and more.

“With our masterclasses, we want attendees to leave with tangible knowledge and practical tools to take their online business to the next level. For those who have yet to set themselves up online, but are on the precipice, we want to provide them with the confidence to set up a platform, that they know will cater to what they need as a business,” says Warrick Kernes, founder of Insaka, a community-driven learning organisation for entrepreneurs.

The Summit’s flexible agenda, spread over two days, is designed to allow attendees to select which topics will be most beneficial to their needs. “We want attendees to think of the Summit like a breakfast buffet – there may be a lot to choose from, but to extract the best value, they need to select the options that will equip them with the knowledge they need to transform their ecommerce business. The presentations are separated into beginner and advanced topics, so that entrepreneurs can learn at their level,” says Kernes.

Other key speakers at the Summit include Andy Higgins, Managing Director at Bob Group, Dave Lockie, Web3 Lead at WooCommerce, Marko Stavrou, The Gen Z Guy and co-founder of Hustlers Global, Donald Valoyi, Founder and CEO of Zulzi.com, Lauren Dallas, CEO of Future Females, Tahir Emrah Tuzun, Head of Sales and Market Development of PayPal Middle East and Africa, and Mike Bryer, CEO at Zapper, among others.
