The Xero Roadshow – 3 Things You Should Know

It’s hard to imagine a room full of accountants as being anything but conventional. However, the accountants attending the Xero Roadshow in South Africa were the exact opposite. Taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town, forward thinking accountants, SMEs and startups flocked to the event to network and learn about how they can change their businesses for the better.

Here’s what we picked up:

Accounting is hard for small businesses.

Most small businesses spend an average of 2.6 days a month chasing payments. That’s just too many days. However, with tools like Xero which provide beautiful, cloud accounting software that’s easy to manage, keeping track of payments can become a thing of the past. Xero has used technology to make accounting simple and painless for small businesses.

Xero is passionate about South Africa, our SMEs and our economy, so they’ve partnered with ecommerce tools that make running a small business as painless as possible. All SMEs need to do is jump on board.

Tech touches everything in our lives, so embrace it.

Tech has become an integral part of our daily lives, yet so many SMEs fail to use it within their businesses. By using tools like Xero, SMEs can save time, money and not to mention hair follicles when it comes to accounting and getting paid on time. What’s more, business owners don’t have to do this alone. Xero can recommend accountants that are Xero certified and can offer their services and do just about everything for you while you keep track from anywhere in the world. That’s the beauty of cloud accounting.

Let’s face it, the world is going digital, so we need to rethink and remodel how we do things. Gone are the days of manually reconciling accounts and chasing unpaid invoices.

You are your mindset. Your thoughts become your things.

Marnus Broodryk, the CEO of The Beancounter and well-known shark on Shark Tank South Africa,  gave an inspiring talk about mindsets and the power of change. He says, change is like a roller coaster, you can’t stop it. So either jump on or let it pass you by. Be adaptable, be flexible and be open to new opportunities.

Technology is changing the way we run our businesses, which means that business owners can have more time for themselves, their families and to focus on what’s really important. This is what Xero is deeply passionate about and so are we.

We are one of many amazing partners of Xero in South Africa. We are proud and excited to be a part of this community of people and ecommerce tools that strive to help SMEs get off the ground as easily as possible. Long may it last and hopefully see you at the next roadshow!
