- DevConf 2020: The two conferences will be replaced with a live stream on 2nd April
- Ecom2020: Rescheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th of August

Over the next two months we’ll be participating in four of the biggest ecommerce and tech events happening in South Africa: the Standard Bank SME Summit, Ecom2020, Women in Tech Africa and DevConf 2020.
Our marketing team will be present at each event to chat to conference attendees about our service offering and latest developments. As an added bonus, Jonathan Smit, PayFast’s Founder and MD, will be speaking at the Standard Bank SME Summit and Ecom2020 about current online payment trends and practices affecting the industry.

The Standard Bank SME Summit is an annual conference and exhibition where South Africa’s leading entrepreneurs and business personalities from the SME, franchising, finance and enterprise development sectors come together to share their knowledge and insights about growing a business. This year’s one-day event has a number of interesting presentations on its agenda, including a panel session featuring our MD Jonathan Smit and other tech business leaders who will discuss how to harness technology to take SMEs to the next level and disrupt the bigger players. We’ve attended in previous years and look forward to what this year’s event holds.

Women in Tech Africa is the continent’s biggest celebration of the successes and innovations being engineered by women from across the tech sector. During the two-day event, attendees will be able to learn from the most successful and influential women in tech on the continent through seminars, interactive technical workshops and receive practical career-development advice. The event will also provide a platform for top tech companies like PayFast to interact with women in the tech industry. While this is the first time that we are sponsoring this event, we look forward to being involved in similar inspiring events in the future.

DevConf is a community-driven, professional software developer focused, one-day conference that is hosted annually in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The conference provides a platform for professional software developers working in the South African software development environment to learn, network and be inspired. While our developers have attended in previous years, 2020 marks the first year that PayFast is sponsoring the event. We look forward to meeting the devs who work with our solution on a technical level.

Our biggest event for the year, Ecom2020 is set to attract a massive audience consisting of companies and individuals that are in the business of selling online. The two-day event will cover everything from logistics and fulfilment to developing a digital strategy, online security and payment solutions. In relation to the last point, our MD Jonathan Smit will present a keynote address that will focus on the rise of platforms and marketplaces. The event will also offer a platform for start-ups, scale-ups, SMEs, investors, developers and founders of tech companies to network and discuss the future of ecommerce in Africa.
