mobicred is a credit facility that allows shoppers to buy safely at hundreds of online stores across South Africa. When you enable mobicred, you’ll be on par with retail giants, such as Takealot, bidorbuy, and Superbalist.

When enabled, you allow shoppers to pay monthly for their day-to-day online purchases while you get paid instantly and in full!  From art to zen, shoppers love choice. They love convenience. With mobicred, your online store ticks both boxes.


Our latest payment option brings an interesting twist to our already-versatile offering: By enabling SCode, you’re reaching a unique group of shoppers who may enjoy the online shopping experience, but still prefer making offline payments.

SCode is particularly useful for those unique transactions where the person selecting the product isn’t the person paying for it. For example, a tech-savvy student can buy online and have their parents pay offline. Or a gift can be selected online by the recipient and paid for offline by the gifter.

This option is also appealing to shoppers who don’t have credit or debit cards.

Debit cards

A large percentage of South African shoppers still use Maestro and Visa Electron issued cards, generally used for offline purchasing and ATM withdrawals.

Here is your chance to shine as a merchant! By offering debit card payments at check-out through PayFast, you’ll be giving these shoppers the chance to spend their money online at your store.

How to enable the additional payment options

We’ve made it easy for you to offer your shoppers a broad range of payment options.

In the case of mobicred, there is a short application process that needs to take place. Our support team makes it easy for you and you’ll know within three business days if your application is successful.

For SCode and debit cards, select Settings > Payment Methods from your dashboard.  A green tick indicates the option is already enabled.

Click Edit alongside the payment option you’d like to enable and complete the necessary fields. Click Update to have it enabled. Remember to familiarise yourself with our fees before changing your settings.
